How Online Window Cleaning Quotes Work (And Why They're More Accurate Than You Think)

There's a reasonable scepticism about getting a trade quote without someone first laying eyes on your property. Plumbers need to see the pipe. Electricians need to inspect the switchboard. But window cleaning is different - and an experienced cleaner can quote your home accurately without visiting it. Here's exactly how it works.

What information does an online quote actually use?

An instant online window cleaning quote is built on four key inputs. From these, a well-designed calculator applies pricing rules that reflect the actual work involved:

📍

Your suburb

Affects travel cost and local conditions - coastal vs inland, for example.

🏠

Number of storeys

Single-storey and double-storey are priced differently due to access requirements.

🪟

Number of windows

The primary driver of how long a job takes. Most homeowners can count their windows in a few minutes.

Services required

Exterior-only, interior and exterior, fly screens, balustrades, solar panels - each adds to the scope and price.

What about satellite imagery and Street View?

For larger or more complex properties, experienced window cleaners use Google Maps satellite view and Street View to get a sense of the property before arriving. This isn't a replacement for the customer providing their details - it's a cross-check.

Street View is particularly useful for verifying storey count, checking for unusual access challenges (very steep blocks, fully enclosed courtyards, pool areas without surround access) and getting a sense of the home's footprint. In most cases it confirms what the customer has already told us.

Why fixed-price quoting is better than hourly

The shift to fixed-price quoting in professional window cleaning has been overwhelmingly positive for customers:

You know the exact cost before the cleaner rings your doorbell - no mental arithmetic about "how long have they been here?"

No incentive to slow down - an hourly rate creates a perverse incentive. A fixed price creates the opposite.

Easy comparison - comparing fixed-price quotes is straightforward. Hourly rates require you to also estimate hours, which you can't do accurately.

Accountability - a fixed price is a commitment to complete the described scope for that amount.

When you see someone quoting "just $XX per hour", ask yourself: how many hours? A vague quote is a vague commitment.

The price you see is the price you pay

Our pricing commitment

The price in your quote is the price on your invoice. We don't add extras on the day, we don't charge more because the job took longer than expected, and we don't surprise you at the end. What you see is what you pay.

There are two situations where the final price might differ from your original quote - and in both cases, you'll know about it before we start:

1

You want to add something on the day

Totally fine - if you decide you'd like fly screens, balustrades or solar panels included when I arrive, I'll add them to the scope and adjust the price before starting. You're in control.

2

You entered your details incorrectly

If you told the calculator you have 12 windows and there are actually 28, the quoted price will need to reflect the actual job. I'll always discuss any adjustment with you before starting - you can accept the revised price or decline. I never start extra work and bill for it afterwards.

How do I know the online price is competitive?

Use our calculator and compare the result against two or three other local quotes. You'll likely find our pricing is competitive - not the cheapest (which usually means corners are being cut), but genuinely fair for a professional, insured, guaranteed service.

The key question to ask any window cleaner you're comparing is: are you fully insured, and do you provide a satisfaction guarantee? If the answer to either is no, the lower quote isn't actually a better deal.
